چکیده

The growth of Ag clusters on preadsorbed oxygen and oxide-covered Mo~112! has been investigated using scanning tunneling microscopy ~STM!. The objective of these experiments is the synthesis of adjacent areas on a surface with distinctly different metal–support interactions in order to investigate the relationship between the morphology of a supported metal cluster and the strength of the cluster–support interaction. The STM results show that more highly dispersed Ag clusters with a greater number density are obtained on that surface that interacts to a greater extent with the metal. Heating leads to the formation of two-dimensional–Ag nanostructures on oxygen-free Mo~112! ~strong metal–support interaction! and three-dimensional cluster growth on oxide-covered Mo~112! ~relatively weak metal–support interaction!. © 2002 American Vacuum Society. @DOI: 10.1116/1.1501581#

Surface Science Letters Oxygen-induced p(1 3)-O reconstruction on Mo(112): a precursor to the epitaxial formation of MoO2(100)

Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) and low energy electron diffraction (LEED) have been used to investigate the oxygen reconstruction following oxidation of a Mo(1 1 2) single crystal. The STM and LEED results show a p(1 2)-O oxygen-induced missing row reconstruction at monolayer coverage. LEED and high resolution STM data also reveal a second oxygen-induced p(1 3)-O reconstruction at a higher...

Morphological and electronic properties of ultrathin crystalline silica epilayers on a Mo„112... substrate

Ultrathin crystalline silica layers grown on a Mo~112! substrate have been shown to be a useful silica model oxide support in surface science model catalyst studies. As the oxide support material plays an important role in the catalytic process, a multitechnique surface science study is presented to characterize the morphological and electronic properties of the heteroepitaxial system SiO2 /Mo(...

Realization of an atomic sieve: Silica on Mo(112)

The adsorption of Pd, Ag and Au atoms on a porous silica film on Mo(112) is investigated by scanning tunneling microscopy and density functional theory. While Pd atoms are able to penetrate the holes in the silica top-layer with virtually no barrier, Ag atoms experience an intermediate barrier value and Au atoms are completely unable to pass the oxide surface. The penetration probability does n...

The Exploration Significance of Ag/Au, Au/Cu, Cu/Mo, (Ag×Au)/(Cu×Mo) Ratios, Supra-ore and Sub-ore Halos and Fluid Inclusions in Porphyry Deposits: A Review

This paper documents the exploration significance of Ag/Au, Au/Cu, Cu/Mo and (Ag×Au)/Cu×Mo) ratios of the supra-ore and sub-ore halos versus fluid inclusion evolution for 24 Cu, 6 Cu- Mo and 10 Cu-Au porphyry deposits worldwide. The ratios are based only on the economic and mineralized hypogene alteration zones. The results indicate that (Ag×Au)/(Cu×Mo), Au/Cu and Cu/Mo ratios increase with dec...
